About the Smallwood Vintage Steam Rally
South and east of the industrial and metropolitan cities of Liverpool and Manchester, amid rolling green farmland, is the Smallwood Vintage Steam Rally.
This family-friendly event occurs in the spring in the ancient Middlewich region of Cheshire County. With an agrarian backdrop, explore historic steam and gas-powered equipment, automobiles, and military hardware. On Saturday let the kids enjoy a ride on a classic fire engine. Don’t miss the daily and nightly tractor pulls for a genuinely thrilling experience.
The weekend starts off Friday evening with tractor pulling and live music in the beer tent at 4 PM. More food than you can shake a fork at will be available throughout the 3-day weekend rally representing many locally provided delicacies. Don’t forget to let the kids build their very own sandcastle for free in the giant sandpit. Show off your own car and join in the road run on Saturday or Sunday.
Smallwood Vintage Steam Rally
The event is sponsored by the Smallwood Vintage Rally.
Entry To The Rally
Entry to the event is £7.50 for adults, and children under 15 are free. The event opens to the public from 10am and goes on until 5pm (parking is available from 9am).
Somewhere to Stay in Cheshire
Weekend camping is available onsite for visitors for £60 (two adults per pitch and children are free). If you seek more accommodating accommodations yet with a similar agrarian touch, try the charming Whitethorn Bed and Breakfast. Still a working 17th-century farm that has lovely rooms, gardens for walking, and farm animals for the kids. Need a little Wi-Fi for the weekend? Try the Chimney House Hotel for contemporary rooms and a restaurant.
Getting To Love Lane Farm
Driving to the rally could not be more straightforward either from Liverpool or Manchester. From Liverpool, follow the M62 east to the M6 south. Exit at junction 17, Sandbach Heath, use the A533 to connect to eastbound Love Lane. From Manchester, use the A34 south through Congleton to Child’s Lane. Turn right (west) and follow the road to the rally grounds.
Other Things To Do Around Sandbach
The history of Cheshire county dates back beyond the Neolithic age. Take a drive east of Congleton to see the Bridestones. These monolithic stones mark pre-history tombs and 'are the oldest megalithic structures in Cheshire.' Or take a drive northwest to Beeston to visit Beeston Castle. This Scheduled Ancient Monument is perched 350-feet above the Cheshire countryside. Legend claims the treasure of Richard II is buried somewhere on the site. Bring your metal detector to see if you can discover your own treasure (but maybe not).
The Smallwood Vintage Steam Rally is the family event of the spring in the Cheshire countryside. Bring the whole family, stay the entire weekend, and eat more food than you can hold. Don miss the milk bar!
