About the Weeting Suffolk Steam Engine Rally and Country Show
Weeting is located in the central western area of Thetford Forest in the scenic county of Norfolk. The Steam Engine Rally is held in a large (170 acre) field just north of the Little Ouse River. Weeting Heath Nature Reserve lies a short distance to the west.
Usually held in the third weekend in July. For three spectacular summer days each year Weeting Steam Engine Rally provides fun for all the family showcasing steam engines, steam miniatures, fairground rides, classic and military vehicles, heavy horses, and much more. At past events there has even been a miniature steam railway!
The main attractions are the steam powered engines and usually total in excess of 100 full size and 100 miniature engines. As part of the events, the steam engines will demonstrate how they were used in the past - see fields being ploughed, steam powered milling and threshing and our favourite 'stone crushing'. Yikes! Check out the video below from Peter at the 2019 event.
The Weeting Steam Engine Rally is a registered charity dedicated to to the education and preservation of steam and vintage vehicles. The charity have held events since 1968 and celebrated 50 years in 2018.

Getting To Fengate Farm
Weeting is located about 30 miles west of Norwich so if you are coming from the north the A1(M) is probably a good motorway use. Use the M11 from London. Then either hook up with the A134 (from north) or A1065 from the south. As you get closer to the event look out for the yellow AA signs. Head towards Thetford Forest Park, Brandon and Weeting. The rally is held in the fields adjacent to Lynn Road and Hockwold Road.
Other Things To Do Around Brandon
The local area is littered with historic places of interest. Try a morning at Thetford Warren Lodge and an afternoon at Brandon Country Park - both located south of the rally site. Check out the ruins of Weeting Castle (within walking distance of the rally) and also the local Round-tower church, another interesting historic landmark.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead as there is a lot going on in the field. And don't forget your pooper-scooper!
