About the Cambridgeshire Steam Rally
Stow-cum-Quy is located on the eastern side of Cambridge City just north of the A14, the ancient trading route between Cambridge and Newmarket. Quy is an ancient Saxon settlement and continues its proud heritage each year with its Steam Rally.
The Rally brings together a great collection of vintage attractions, including:
- Steam Traction Engines
- Miniature Steam Engines
- Stationary Engines
- Vintage and Classic Vehicles
This annual Rally is held over two days during the summer. The show attracts more than 400 exhibitors and is well attended by locals and visitors from further afield. The video below shows what you can expect at the show. It sure is a lot of fun and a great family atmosphere.
The show has been running for more than 10 years and each year the small group of dedicated organisers look forward to delighting the attendees.
Entry To The Rally
The show opens each day at 100.am and finishes around 5.00pm. Entry is £8 for adults, £6 for children, and free for under 5s. Family tickets are available for £20 (2 adults, 2 children) making a saving of £8. Family camping tickets are also available - check on the Rally's official site for the latest deals.
Somewhere to Stay in Cambridgeshire
There is plenty of accommodation in Newmarket and Cambridge to suit all tastes and prices. A quick google search will provide access to some great deals. Don't forget that the Rally ground also has a campsite, which can add to the weekend fun if that is what you are in to. Oh! nearly forgot - there is a Best Western Premier about 3 minutes away from the site too.
Getting To Quy Park
Stow-cum-Quy is close to Cambridge Airport just north of the A14 at junction 35. You can connect to the A14 via the A11 (north-south), A1 (from the north) and the M11, A11 from the south. As you exit at junction 35 take the left filter road towards Burwell - also signposted to Anglesey Abbey.
Other Things To Do Around Stow-cum-Quy
Anglesey Abbey is a fantastic National Trust historic building a few miles north. Perfect for a relaxing morning or afternoon, complete with restaurant serving hot and cold snacks. Plenty of open spaces outside, and loads of interesting walks. Further south, less than 30 minutes drive, is the Imperial War Museum (IWM) at Duxford - plan to spend a full day there if you go.
All dogs must be kept on a lead. Please do not allow your dog to foul the site without clearing up behind them.
