About the Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally and Country Fair
Located about 100 miles west of London and 10 miles south of M4 is the town of Calne, where the 'miracle' of St. Dunston occurred 1020 years ago. Just a few miles south of Calne off Stockley Road is the site of the annual two-day event, the Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally and Country Fair
The Fair is one of the largest annual events in the area featuring traction engines, miniature steam, stationary engines, tractors, classic cars, motorcycles, and other bygones.
Other attractions are still being lined up to appear at the fair, so you will need to check back later as the date approaches to see the full slate of exhibits, entertainment, and special shows. Previous fairs have featured live demonstrations, motorcycle races, tractor pulls, and even a vintage airplane. You can be sure that there will be lots of great food and music for the whole family.
Heddington & Stockley Steam Rally
For over 40 years, the Heddington and Stockley Steam Rally and Country Fair has raised funds for many local charities and strives to improve on the show each year.
Entry To The Fair
The show opens each day at 9.00am and runs all day. Tickets are available on the gate.
Somewhere to Stay in Wiltshire
Why not turn this into a family weekend adventure and take advantage of the safe and secure onsite camping and facilities? Discounted weekend passes are available, but you will need to confirm early to ensure that a pitch is available for your caravan or tent. The town of Calne has many hotels to choose from including the 3-star Calne Bed and Breakfast, The Bug and Spider (while oddly named is given a high rating by online reviewers), or the upscale 3-star Heritage Luxury Bed and Breakfast.
Getting To Heddington
If you approach the Fair from Marlborough from the east, take the A4 to Stockley Lane and head south. Then make a left on Stockley Road. Make a right turn, and you are there. Arriving from the northwest from the town of Calne you will simply take London Road and make a left turn on to Stockley Lane and follow the same route.
Other Things To Do Around The Area
There is plenty to do around the event site if you are planning to stay a little longer. The chalk White Horse in Devizes is worth an afternoon treck, or go north to Bowood House and Gardens or the Calne Heritage Centre to take in some local history. Other sights to see are the world-famous Stonehenge located about 25 miles south of Calne or the lesser-known Avebury henge and stone circles about 8 miles east of the town.
We know that well behaved dogs are welcome at the Fair and that parking is free but other attractions are still being confirmed. Please check back soon for any updates.
