Vintage Rally In Dorset

About the The Three Okefords Rally

The agricultural community of Shillingstone, Dorset, is situated on the River Stour, between the towns of Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum. To its south is a large area of woodland that forms part of Blandford Forest.

Shillingstone plays host to The Three Okefords Rally, a celebration of Dorset's agricultural history, industrial past, and other developments throughout the years. The highlight of the Three Okefords Rally is its comprehensive display of old-time vehicles: classic cars and motorcycles, tractors, and agricultural machinery from back in the day, as well as all kinds of steam engines-- stationary, full-size, miniature, and more.

The rally is an action-packed day of family fun with agricultural machines on parade, tractor-pulling, craft and trade stalls, collections, food and drink concessionaires, live entertainment, and other attractions and activities.

Three Okefords Preservation Society

Many look forward to the annual event, which continues to draw large crowds since its very first rally in 1989. Organized by the Three Okefords Preservation Society, the Rally is one of Dorset's highly-anticipated family events, drawing thousands of steam enthusiasts and hundreds of exhibitors each year.

Entry To The Rally

Admission to The Three Okefords Rally is only £6 for adults and £5 for seniors. Children under 16 years enter for free, as long as they are accompanied by a fee-paying adult. Gates open from 10 AM onwards.

Somewhere to Stay in Dorset

If you're looking for places to stay in Shillingstone, some of the more highly recommended local accommodations include the Bere Marsh House, Church House (on Church Road), Pennhills Farmhouse, and The Willows Tea Room. Other nearby guest favorites include Loose Reins, The Fontmell, Brewery Farm Luxury Lodges, Saxon Inn Child Okeford, Gorse Farm House, The Fiddleford Inn, The Talbot Hotel, Forest View B&B, and The Victorian Barn, among others.

Getting To Blandford Road

From London, Shillingstone is a little more than two hours away by car, about 120 miles via the M3 or the M3 and A31. If you're coming from Bristol, you can take the A350, the A36, or the A37 and A357 towards Shillingstone. From Exeter, the A30 or the M5 will be your most convenient routes.

Other Things To Do Around The Area

Visitors to Shillingstone may also want to check out the volunteer-run Shillingstone Railway Project, a restoration of the old station on the former North Dorset line. The family-run Discover England Tours is also quite popular as it takes you on a specialised history and heritage tour of the countryside, including stops at Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, The City of Bath, and so much more. Other fun places to visit nearby include Kingston Lacy, The Tivoli Theatre, and Badbury Rings in Wimborne Minster, Farmer Palmer's Farm Park in Poole, the Blandford Forum Town Museum, Hambledon Hill in Child Okeford, and Insight Activities Dorset in Tolpuddle.

Attended this Rally yet again. Superb. Amazing. Very lively and interesting for a small rally. Very nostalgic, beautiful setting in the heart of the Dorset Countryside. Only downside there should be more entertainment in the beer tent throughout the afternoon and evening. Well done to all involved in the running and organisation.
