Aberystwyth Cliff Railway

The most relaxing way to enjoy this majestic panorama is to travel by train on the longest funicular electric cliff railway in Britain, which has been transporting visitors to the summit since opening in 1896. The recently refurbished summit train station, providing much better protection from the elements and updating the structure to ensure a better visitor experience.

Opening Times : Daily Apr-Oct 1000-1700 (1800 high season). Limited service in winter.

My husband and I wandered around Aberystwyth in the summer of 2018. We tracked our way to the north end of the promenade and bought tickets to travel on the old Victorian Cliff Railway. A very relaxing ride and a great view across the bay towards Aberdyfi and the Llŷn Peninsula. On a clear day you can just see Snowdon in the distance. We didn't go in to the Camera Obscura but definitely will next time.
